Michael Kaplan Joins Star Wars Costume Crew
If you’re a fan of the stylish costumes that have been presented in the Star Trek movies then you will not be disappointed to hear that Star Trek’s costume designer Michael Kaplan has joined the ranks of the new Star Wars crew.
Recently Buzzfeed spoke with the designer and asked him about his next project. Here’s what he had to say:
Buzzfeed: So will you be switching up and maybe picking a period drama for your next film [after Star Trek]? What’s coming up next?
Michael Kaplan: Well, I’ve just learned I’ll be working on the new Star Wars movie, again with J.J. Everything just got formalized [last week], I haven’t even had the chance to talk to anyone about it all other than to be told ‘welcome aboard.’ It’s a little too soon to know exactly what’s in store but I’m excited, absolutely, to get to work on another prestigious sci-fi series.”
My only concern about Michael Kaplan joining JJ Abrams with Star Wars is are they pulling too much from the two franchises? Will Star Wars start to look more like Star Trek or do you think that Abrams will keep the two separate?
