We’ve been talking about Disney moving their filming of the new Star Wars films to the UK and now it has been confirmed by Screen Daily that they will be filming at Pinewood Studios. Like with the other six movies, Disney will be keeping their tradition of filming in the UK.
Industry sources have confirmed to Screen speculation that Disney and JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII will shoot at Pinewood Studios.
Production is already moving in to Pinewood in preparation for the early 2014 shoot with crew also being assembled. As previously reported, casting is underway.
Lucasfilm announced last month that the anticipated first instalment in the franchise’s third trilogy will be filmed in the UK.
Disney is already moving into Pinewood studios as well as looking for their new cast to join them in the filming which will begin as early as January 2014. The first installment of the new trilogy is scheduled to be released in 2015.
