Looks like our Wookie friend might have a comeback part for the sequels according to this recent casting call in the UK. They are looking for

‘Male, 7 ft to 7.3 ft tall with a slim/thin build and upright posture. Not too worked out or too ‘thick set’ especially in the shoulders. Broad facial features would be a bonus.’

It is listed as an Untitled Studio Feature with some bug names attached to it which pretty much gives us an idea of which studio feature they’re talking about.

The original actor to have played Peter Mayhew recently went through knee surgery so he might not be up for the sequels. So it’s a possible casting call for Chewie, I mean, who else could it be? And if it is, then we know that they are not using the EU as part of the continuation of the series.

If it is Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew plans on taking the role at all costs, even though he went through a knee surgery. A quote from a documentary he did says,

I intend to pursue the role of Chewbacca for Episode VII.

He hasn’t been spoken to about it yet, but I don’t think fans would be too upset to have Peter Mayhew return to the role of Chewbacca. I mean, who else could play Chewbacca?
