George Lucas’ Role in Star Wars: Episode VII

In a recent interview with Lucas’ son Jett Lucas, a little information on George Lucas’ role in episode VII was revealed. Jett said that his father was researching and working on developing a new film well over a year before GL sold Lucasfilm to Disney. Aparently George Lucas was “Very torn on the matter” according to Jett. What remains now of Lucas’ work on episode VII according to Jett are mere “guidelines” for J.J. Abrams even though Abrams has the freedom to tweak what he needs to.

Jett further added some fun info on his father’s work with Abrams:

He’s constantly talking to J.J. Abrams. Obviously J.J. was handpicked. He is there to guide, whenever, he’ll help where he can. At the same time, he wants to let it go and become its new generation.
Zett *ahem* Jett, would not reveal anymore information than this except for making a statement that he was apparently happy with J.J. Abrams helming the project and that his father hand picked him.  Watch the video below for the full interview!
