Disney Hesitant About Making Boba Fett Spin Off

Since Boba Fett’s debut in The Empire Strikes Back he has become a fan favorite. He’s the bounty hunter that caught Han sneaking off an Imperial Star Destroyer and prepared the Empire for the taking of Cloud City. Although we don’t get to see much of the bounty hunter, fans have made him one of their favorite characters. Because he has a jetpack, the menacing voice he had before the prequel changes, and the way he carries himself. He is one to be feared. So making him a hero would be tough, or would it? So what are their thoughts about making Boba Fett into the protagonist of his own film? Could they really pull off his evil hate against the universe? This morning there was an executive breakfast for Star Wars and rumored that George Lucas and several other key people were involved. Over at MakingStarWars.net, they claim they have some information from the breakfast.

From what we have heard about the event, there was a lot of discussion about Boba Fett at the breakfast. The executives are apparently enthusiastic about the rocket man. There are some minor problems going forward with a film about a villain, however. The general problem with Boba Fett is how to use him effectively without ruining his evil essence to make him the protagonist of a Star Wars Spin-off film. The executive was overheard (paraphrased) as saying

“Lucasfilm wants Boba Fett to remain menacing and scary but we have to make him the hero of the film and it is a real challenge.”

So seeing a Boba Fett spin off sounds like it might not make it, despite all the rumors that have been surfacing over the last few months. What are your thoughts? Is it possible to make a Disney Spin off film of Boba Fett and make him as menacing and evil as fans see him to be? Comment below!
