Admiral Ackbar

“It’s a Trap!!” Or is it…?

Exciting news this week from The Force Awakens Twitter account! No, sadly,  Jar Jar Binks will not be making an appearance in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. But two other original trilogy characters appear to be joining the film’s cast! First up is everyone’s favorite aquatic admiral, internet meme, and almost college mascot – Admiral Ackbar! Admiral Fish-Face will be joined by Lando Calrissian’s Return of the Jedi copilot, the smuggling Sullustan himself – Nien Nunb!

For those of you not familiar with every nook and cranny of Star Wars history, Admiral Ackbar and Nien Nunb played critical roles in the Battle of Endor. If you need a refresher course, check out the edited Battle of Endor video below. Both characters appear for the first time around the 0:20 mark.

It’s exciting seeing recognizable characters that will (allegedly) make appearances in the new film. Aliens such as Chewbacca and Admiral Ackbar, and heroes like Han Solo and Princess Leia, help add some familiarity to the brand new Star Wars universe we be seeing 20 years after the Battle of Endor. As information is released, it’s hard not to get more excited about how the movie is shaping up. December will be here before we know it, and it’s great to see some familiar faces will be joining our journey back to the Star Wars films!
