While many have been disappointed for news of a trailer at D23, Entertainment Weekly has not left us in the dark as they have just revealed new images from the most anticipated movie. You can find those pictures below with a closer look of Domnhall Gleeson as General Hux.
Now for those of you that are trying to stay away from spoilers, especially for the origin of Kylo Ren, I suggest you stop reading. For those of you that want to know, just keep reading.
While in the interview, Abrams says, “He is not your prototypical mustache-twirling bad guy. He is a little more complex than that. Kasdan continues that “He’s full of emotion. No matter how we express ourselves in the world, whether we hide it and act very calm or whether we’re very out there and demonstrative, everybody’s roiling with emotion. And you want your characters to be that way, too. Then they have to deal with their emotions as best they can, with what they are.”
Now a bit of origin has been released for the mysterious Kylo Ren. Who is he and where did he come from? Abrams reveals that the name Ren, is more than just a name but a title, one similar to that of Darth. JJ reveals that “he came to the name when he joined a group called ‘Knights of Ren.”
The mask that Ren wears is an intentional homage to the mask of Darth Vader. Abrams adds a bit about his lightsaber. “The lightsaber is something that he built himself, something that is as dangerous and fierce as ragged as his character.” He continues to say, “I think that’s what makes Ren so unique is that he isn’t as fully formed as when you meet a character such as Darth Vader. And I think that there are two sides to the Force. Both sides, arguably, would see themselves as the hero of their story, which applies here.”
Kasdan says speaking of Ren, “I’ve written four Star Wars movies now, and there’s never been a character quite like the one that Adam plays. I think you’re going to see something that’s brand new to the saga.”
So who is Kylo Ren? Many think that he is related to Han and Leia. Or is he completely original? We will find out more when Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits Theatres on December 18th, 2015. For all the revealed images scroll down!
