Episode VIII Teaser Production Trailer Plus New Cast Details!

After December 17th, Star Wars has left us with wanting more. With only 18 months to wait, it didn’t seem all too bad until we heard it was pushed back just a few more months. Just recently, we heard that production had started, but StarWars.com today, released an official teaser production trailer. The trailer begins skimming across the vast ocean of Ahch-To to the island that we are now all too familiar with. On the island is Luke staring down at Rey, from his perspective as she pulls the lightsaber out and stretches forth her hand. Just when we think we’re going to hear Luke speak to add to the intensity of the teaser, it cuts out to show the production team! Well done Lucasfilm on another amazing teaser. You can catch the teaser below!

Rey took her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and will continue her epic journey with Finn, Poe, and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the continuing Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode VIII, which began principal photography at Pinewood Studios in London on February 15, 2016.

Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is written and directed by Rian Johnson and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, welcomes back cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.  New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.

Just before we post the teaser, this was taken off of the official Star Wars website and if you notice the list of actors, we see three newcomers to the saga! Also, this may be news to some, but Captain Phasma is going return. Earlier this year Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that she would have a bigger role in Episode VIII. With the official cast list, we also see that some of our favorites are returning. Looks like we have not seen the last of Maz Kanata.

Their roles are still a mystery to us but it’s great to see some more new faces added to the universe that we know and love. What are your thoughts? What role do you think they will have in Episode VIII? Be sure to join in or start a discussion on our forum Echo Base!
