Donald Glover Cast As Lando

When the Han Solo movie was announced, fans began picking their own actors that would make a good fit for the young versions of the iconic heroes Han and Lando. The number one choice that fans had in mind was Community’s actor Donald Glover. While Disney listens to a lot of what fans want, they also go with what they feel would be best for the franchise, and this is one of those moments that Disney and fans have agreed on, Donald Glover would be the best choice for a young Lando Calrissian. He is to appear in the new standalone film Han Solo.

This new film depicts Lando in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld — years before the events involving Han, Leia, and Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back and his rise to Rebel hero in Return of the Jedi.

While the film is about Han Solo and his journey leading up to A New Hope, we will get a little more backstory from some of the things that we have heard from the original trilogy. Not only will we get to see how Han and Chewie meet, I am sure we will see that famous bet that led to Han Solo being the owner of the famed ship that made the kessel run in less than 12 parsecs.

“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said Lord and Miller. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”

While we are still not too enthralled on the idea of a Han Solo spinoff, we are excited to see Glover join the cast. What are your thoughts? Excited? Let us know on our social media!
